Dining in the Dark

Experience a novel restaurant concept and also help a good cause at a benefit for the Foundation Fighting Blindness on June 14 at the Hilton Baltimore. Guests will dine in the dark for about 30 minutes to experience the challenges of being blind.

They will be guided through the culinary experience by visually impaired servers, who have been specially trained and will share their stories.

While this dinner is being held to raise awareness for sight-saving research, “eating in the dark” is actually done in some restaurants in Europe and the U.S., with the purpose of increasing the use of the other senses. The waiters wear night goggles to serve the food.

Also, at the Foundation Fighting Blindness event, former Gov. Bob Ehrlich and former Ravens kicker Matt Stover will be honored with the foundation’s Visionary Award.
