Bay Cafe to be replaced by Boathouse

The former Canton waterfront site has been remodeled and reinvented.

The Bay Cafe in Canton closed last December, but a new
restaurant called The Boathouse Canton, Waterfront Grille is set to open in its
place in the next two weeks.

The top-to-bottom renovation has transformed the space that
once looked like a tiki bar into more of an upscale nautical-themed restaurant—with
refinished hardwood floors, a brand new outdoor fireplace, and a gazebo.

SMG Architects designed the project, which is the same firm responsible for Woodberry Kitchen, The Food Market, and new Mt. Washington Tavern.

A new menu will accompany the new look. The Boathouse Canton
will be serving up Maryland favorites like cream of crab soup, jumbo lump crab
cakes, and Old Bay chicken wings, as well as other items like calamari and
flatbreads.

Also being featured are local draft beers and cocktails,
like their take on a dark and stormy, which they have asked their Facebook fans
to help name. The restaurant has
been active on social media, posting photos and construction updates on a
regular basis.

Guests will be able to dine in the Boathouse Canton’s
interior space beginning the week of April 14, and the outdoor space is set to
open in the near future.
