Shop Local

The BFA sponsors a citywide shopping event.

The Baltimore Fashion Alliance (BFA) will make it a little easier for us to pack up our favorite summer staples and welcome fall with a new look, thanks to a citywide shopping event held on September 20 called, simply, SHOP.

“SHOP is very similar to [the former] Fashion’s Night Out, as it highlights the different shopping in the city from the small boutiques to the medium-sized regional chains like South Moon Under,” explains Daniel Lindquist, a business partner at Mt. Vernon’s For Rent Shoes and the chair of the SHOP committee. With participants along the Charm City Circulator route—that’s downtown, Harbor East, Federal Hill, Fells Point, and Mt. Vernon—shoppers will receive special discounts and enjoy in-store events.

“The idea is that you can park your car in one place and bus around to a bunch of different areas,” BFA president Christopher Schafer explains. “The biggest theme is really shop local. We also want to get [shop owners] to work together, more of a cooperative effort.”

“Baltimore is very neighborhood-oriented with people staying in those areas,” Lindquist notes. “We want people to explore a bit more, to other parts of the city, bring everyone together, and highlight downtown Baltimore.”
