Excellence in Nursing Event

Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at The Belvedere

On April 19, Baltimore magazine hosted its 3rd annual Excellence in Nursing dinner and awards ceremony at the Belvedere to celebrate the special editorial section in the May issue. There were no empty seats in the ballroom as the 50 honored nurses, along with family, friends, and colleagues gathered to salute the honorees’ outstanding contributions to the medical and patient community in the greater Baltimore area. Managing editor of special sections Ken Iglehart, with contributions from Rebecca Kirkman and a panel of seven nurse advisors, poured over hundreds of nominations and narrowed down the list to 50 notable honorees all of whom took home an award in one of the 19 categories.

In addition to a festive cocktail hour, presenting sponsor, GBMC, hosted a fun Baltimore magazine themed photo booth, where guests took turns in front of the Pixilated camera and became the stars of Baltimore magazine’s cover for a night. Following cocktails, guests were invited into the ballroom for a formal sit-down dinner and awards presentation. Honorees had their moment on stage to be warmly congratulated for their unwavering dedication and endless energy as professionals in the nursing community.

Along with an award presented by the Maryland Nurses Association, nurses were given wrist corsages or boutonnières from UrbanStems to signify their special role in the evening’s festivities. La Cakerie provided guests with celebratory cupcakes in take-home goodie bags. Additional sponsorship support came from the University of Maryland Medical System and the University of Maryland School of Nursing; Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital; Mercy Medical Center; The Johns Hopkins Hospital, The Johns Hopkins School of Nursing, and The Johns Hopkins Federal Credit Union; Chesapeake Medical Imaging; and Stevenson University.
