Football bowl games are (almost) as much about fun as winning. With
that in mind, Denise Stokes, communications manager for the Frisco
Convention & Visitors Bureau, helpfully sent along a list of Frisco
attractions for visiting Towson fans, family, and alums—in town the next few days as the Tigers prepare to play for the FCS National Championship Saturday.

Stokes,
coincidentally, born and raised in Baltimore, and attended Towson for
two years. And, she notes, Frisco City Councilman John Keating happens
to be a Towson
alum. Hey, maybe these local connections are a sign of good things to
come for Towson? Facing the two-time defending national champion North Dakota State Bison, currently riding a 23-game winning streak, the Tigers will take any cosmic help that comes their way.

Basic facts: Frisco is a town of 136,000 residents, located 25 miles north of Dallas.

Here’s Denise’s quick pitch for several places to play and eat in Frisco:

—iFLY Indoor Skydiving: There’s
no parachute or jumping involved. This place offers all the fun of
skydiving without having to jump from a plane. It’s just you, the air,
and the most incredible adrenaline rush you can imagine.

—Main Event: All
of this stuff happens under one roof: bowling, laser tag, billiards,
gravity ropes, arcade games, mini golf, and karaoke in addition to
dining and a full service bar.

—Pole Position Raceway:
Race Formula 1 style go-karts at speeds up to 45 mph on an emission
free, climate controlled European-style race course. It’s locally owned
and operated and kids are welcome, too.

—Chateau Rustic or Bloor Door Boutique: If
shopping is your thing and for styles with a true Texas, southern
flare, there’s lots of unique boutiques in old downtown Frisco on Main
Street. If you’re into gently used, name brand items, The Good Steward Consignment is an exclusive boutique for both men and women.

—3 Stacks Smoke & Tap House:
A Frisco original! Started by Trace Arnold, known as “The Rib
Whisperer” who can be seen on History Channel’s Cross-Country Cookout,
this place has everything you need for a truly Texas meal. Great smoked
meats, over 30 beers on tap including lots of great local craft beers.
And all the big games are on. Family-friendly and casual, this is a real
Texas barbecue joint.

—Pizzeria Testa: Owner
Rod Schaefer wanted to open an authentic Neapolitan pizza joint and
brought Michele D’ Amelio over from Naples, Italy. Michele loved it so
much that he has decided to live in Frisco. His Margherita pizza won the
Italian Style Pizza Challenge at the International Pizza Expo this year
where he was also named Master Pizzaiolo, and it’s on the menu at
Pizzeria Testa. They’re at Frisco Square and within walking distance of
Toyota Stadium.

For more info on things to do and great places to eat, visit www.visitfrisco.com.

Kick-off is set for 2 p.m., January 4 and the game will be televised on ESPN2.

And yeh, Go Tigers!
