Camp Friendship, the premier program of the Carol Jean Center Foundation, was founded in 1991, as a place to let kids with cancer enjoy a care-free summer at camp without the worry of medical care or a financial burden. The camp is free to all its campers, ages 7-17, and includes a staff of medical personnel. A physician is on site everyday and several pediatric oncology nurses are there day and night. Campers enjoy swimming, boating, zip-lines and arts and crafts. One five-day session will be offered August 4-8.

Children who are deaf or hard-of-hearing (or children of deaf adults), ages 6-16, and campers with diabetes enjoy fun times at Lions Camp Merrick/Camp Glyndon, located on a 320-acre campsite. This camp offers an educational approach to preventative health care. Children develop and enhance skills that encourage independence.
