Bmore’s Creative Natives Popup
Shop, dance, and drink the night away, as Strangers with Style and SewLab USA partner up to host Bmore’s Creative Natives Popup this Friday, July 31 at the Windup Space. There will be a variety of cool products from local vendors For Rent Shoes, Doubledutch Boutique, Sixteen Tons, 3Clothing, SewLab USA and many more. The shopping will begin at 7 p.m. and will be accompanied by performances starting at 9:30 p.m. from artists including Eze Jackson and Bond St. District. Admission is free until 9 p.m., after which it’s $5. 12 W. North Ave.

BUFF Nail Bar

Ladies, get ready to indulge. Soon you will
be able to go out with your favorite girlfriends and enjoy a pampered
day of manicures, cocktails, and wine in historic Ellicott City. Since the
opening of
Scrub Nail Boutique in Fells Point, owner Jasmine Simms has
started a
GoFundMe account with the plans of opening a sister nail bar
named BUFF Nail Bar. After all, every women deserves to experience the luxury of a fume free
nail bar’s tranquil atmosphere and product ingredients. The new
boutique will hopefully open on Main Street before the end of August just in time for
bridal season.

Drop-in Art Activities: Fashion
As part of their on-going Drop-in Art Activities program, the Walters Art Museum will offer fashion-themed projects during the month of August. Every Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. feel free to drop by, no registration needed, to participate in projects like designing your own fabric, creating a hat, and constructing the latest trends in jewelry. Stop by The Village of Cross Keys Fall Fashion Show to enjoy in-store events, as well as Fall Fashion Forecasts (mini runways shows) presented by participating vendors (including Chezelle, Jean Pool, Jones & Jones, Octavia II, The Pied Piper, Ruth Shaw, and The Store Ltd).

Proceeds from the event will benefit The House of Ruth Maryland. Representatives from the organization, devoted to preventing violence against women and children, will be at the event to collect donations for its One Great Thing fundraiser at Ruth’s Closet (Thursday, October 23 through Sunday, October 26). (Be sure to check back for more information regarding the fundraiser).

If you would like to donate, bring your pieces (clothing, accessories, etc.) to either Jones & Jones or Ruth Shaw on the day of the event, this Saturday, September 20, from 12 to 4 p.m.

If you can’t make it to the show, or you forget your one great thing, you can still drop off donations at Ruth’s Closet between now and Thursday, October 9.

The BFA Presents Trendsitions: SHOP & Soiree at City-Wide Retailers

The Baltimore Fashion Alliance will put on the first annual Trendsitions event this Saturday, September 20 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. After a day of shopping the city-wide event—featuring in-store parties and discounts at shops in Downtown Baltimore, Federal Hill, Fells Point, Harbor East, and Mount Vernon—continue the fun at the after party!

The Charm City Circulator will provide easy transportation between locations.

Hampdenfest Fashion Show

Hampdenfest—the festival known for toilet bowl races, cook-offs, music performances, artists, and local merchants—is debuting a fashion show segment this year. Stop by the Avenue Stage (36th in front of Bank of America) at noon on Saturday, September 20 to see looks from various neighborhood boutiques.

Shop Around Saturdays at Stevenson Village

There’s still time to take advantage of Stevenson Village’s September Saturdays. Drop in this Saturday, September 20, or next Saturday, September 27 (between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.) to receive your very own eco-friendly gift bag, which participating vendors will continue to fill with goodies as you shop throughout the day.

SWS Presents Mini Fall Fashion Show & Mixer at Gallery 788

Baltimore-based fashion blog, Strangers with Style (which recently re-launched), will host its first fashion show at Hampden’s G788 next Wednesday, September 24. In addition to the show (which will feature models decked out in pieces from local boutiques), attendees will enjoy shopping, music (by local musician Al Rogers Jr.), food, and drink.

The event is free to attend, but a $5 donation is encouraged. All donations will benefit the gallery.

The night will focus on the blog’s most recent cover story, “Creatively Cool”—a series shot by photographer (and Baltimore magazine contributor) Jonathan Hanson, giving us a peek into the lives of 11 locals, who are all well-known and emerging in their respective creative fields. 

“It’s a Q&A piece, but it’s definitely a more visual piece,” Obineme tells us. “It’s the concept of selecting some awesome and unique individuals who live in Charm City, and embracing their style. Style can define a lot of things—not necessarily fashion, but they were able to bring in their own clothing, accessories, etc., and we styled them with what they had.”
