Who ya gonna call for ice cream and a movie? Kick off the second season of the Charmery’s full-sensory movie experience this Halloweekend with a showing of Ghostbusters, the family-friendly film about a team of scientists that team up to battle supernatural spirits. This Sunday, head to the ice cream factory to enjoy treats like a self-serve popcorn bar, a spook-tastic specialty punch, and snacks to fit a few special scenes while taking in this 1980s classic. And remember: Never. Cross. Streams.

Monument City Brewing Company, 1 N. Haven St. 12-7 p.m. Free.

There are plenty of fall festivals happening around town this weekend, but this one-day beer fest stands out among the pack with its top-notch eats, entertainment, and specialty cask lineup. Stop by the Highlandtown brewery on Saturday to carve a pumpkin, play carnival games, nosh on lunch by Snake Hill and the From the Heart food truck, and, of course, sip on seasonal brews all afternoon long. The best part? The proceeds from this fall extravaganza will support Rails-to-Trails Conservancy’s efforts to build a bike route behind the brewery.

That sense of appreciation for local structures of all sizes and ages is what led her to become the committee chair of Doors Open Baltimore, an annual event where more than 55 spaces open their doors to the public. De Arcangelis says that while many people only associate Baltimore’s architecture with rowhomes, Doors Open (this year on October 5-6) gives visitors the chance to explore the different types of buildings, museums, and historic houses that make up the city. “Through this event, people ‘catch the bug’ and get excited about these buildings,” she says. “If we get people interested in them now, we hope that curiosity continues throughout the rest of the year.”—KP

This year’s theme, Modern Nouveau, takes inspiration from an exhibition of Charles Rennie Mackintosh, the architect who influenced the art nouveau movement, that’s premiering at the Mount Vernon museum this month. Start the evening with a cocktail reception followed by a gourmet dinner in the galleries, and cap off the night with late-night drinks and dancing in the Sculpture Court. Be sure to grab tickets early, as this party-for-a-cause experience is almost guaranteed to sell out.

Oct. 26: Salt Tavern Pop-Up

Salt Tavern, 2127 E. Pratt St. 5-10 p.m. Free.

Diners were devastated when news broke that mother-and-son duo Jane and Jason Ambrose would be ending traditional service at this beloved Butchers Hill restaurant last August. But, despite the closure, the owners never planned to abandon the space. They are now using it for guest chef dinners, private dining events, and habitual pop-ups—one of which is happening this weekend. For all of the regulars who have been missing the signature duck-fat fries and foie gras burgers, Salt will be holding special dining room hours during this Friday’s Halloweekend event (costumes are encouraged), which will also serve as a benefit for local nonprofit Make Studio.

Oct. 27: Third Anniversary and Costume Contest

Waverly Brewing Company, 1625 Union Ave., Suite C. 6 p.m.-12 a.m. Free.

There’s a lot to celebrate over at Waverly Brewing Company this weekend. In honor of both Halloween and the Hampden-Woodberry staple’s third year of slinging signature brews, its hosting an all-out costume party with eats by neighbors Blue Pit BBQ, an extended tap list, and a healthy dose of IPA-induced debauchery. Spend Saturday night sipping on limited-release brews like the Double Blueberry, Peach, and BluePeach Goats and the Frontside Bunny Hop’d and competing for prizes and bragging rights in the costume contest.

Patterson Park at Eastern & Linwood Aves. Festival: 3:30 p.m., Parade: 7 p.m. Free.

It’s not truly Halloween in Baltimore until this glow-in-the-dark spectacular takes over the hills of Patterson Park. Watch as the city green space transforms into a family-friendly festival, complete with lantern-making classes, hayrides, and local beers, followed by the sunset illuminated parade of artists, musicians, and dancers in a park-wide procession. Before you head home, stop by the Creative Alliance for its annual post-parade dance party, featuring the sounds of Chicago-based quintet Dos Santos.

The Peale Center for Baltimore History and Architecture, 225 Holliday St. 7 & 9:30 p.m. $20.

For the Baltimore Rock Opera Society, its first-ever Halloween-inspired performance has been a long time coming. In this spooky production that represents the city’s rock theater powerhouse’s take on Halloween attractions, follow the story of The Amazing Allerdyce and his oddball assistant as they return from a globe-trotting exploration of the dark arts. Stick around after the mind-bending show to hear performances by local rockers Quattracenta on Friday and Saturday, Voodoo Pharmacology on Sunday, and HexGirlfriends on Halloween.

St. Mary’s Park, 600 N. Paca St. 6:30-11:30 p.m. Free.

During Baltimore Bike Party’s spookiest and most extravagant ride of the year, join hordes of costumed riders on this 3.8-mile trek that starts at St. Mary’s Park in Seton Hill and ends with a post-workout after-party at Union Collective. After grabbing snacks and drinks from resident vendors like Union Craft, Baltimore Spirits Company, and Well Crafted Kitchen, dance the night away with beats by Charm City Djing and snap pictures of the fire breathers, buskers, and acrobats borrowed from the Charm City Fringe Festival.

Heavy Seas Alehouse, 1300 Bank St., 410-522-0850, 8 p.m.

The Food Network has been showing our hometown hotspots some serious love lately. On the heels of Guy Fieri’s recent pit stops at Alewife and The Smoking Swine, celebrity chef Michael Symon—along with actor and beloved Baltimore boy Josh Charles—swung by Heavy Seas Alehouse while filming an episode of Burgers, Brews, and ‘Que a few months back. This Friday night, watch Heavy Seas make its big-screen debut at a viewing party featuring specialty firkins and the brewpub’s signature “beerclairs”—a boozy spin on the classic French pastry, which Symon samples in the episode. If you’re in the mood to bar hop, Le Garage, another stop on Symon’s food tour around Charm City, will also be hosting a watch party in Hampden highlighting burger and beer combos for $15 from 9-11 p.m.

Oct. 27-31: HallOWLoween Weekend

<p "="">The Owl Bar, 1 E. Chase St., 410-347-0888, Times vary

With roots dating back to Prohibition, (local lore has it that the speakeasy’s owl sculptures would blink when it was safe to order booze, and stare straight when cops were within range), The Belvedere Hotel’s dimly lit Owl Bar is an ideal Halloween hangout. Show up in costume (perhaps as former Belvedere dwellers like Fred Astaire, Patti Labelle, or Al Pacino) to partake in the bar’s weekend-long celebration, which kicks off with a pumpkin carving contest on October 27 and continues with a Zombie Prom, ’80s costume party, and an all-night happy hour on Halloween night. All the while, sip spooky cocktails like the “Ichabod Cider” (applejack, snap liqueur, and allspice dram), the “I Aint Afraid of No Ghost” (orange vodka, melon liqueur, lemonade, and grenadine), and the “Jeepers Creepers,” a barrel-aged concoction that combines Jägermeister, Picaroon rum, and cherry bitters.

Oct. 29: The Great Halloween Lantern Parade & Festival

Patterson Park, 27 S. Patterson Park Ave., 410-276-1651, 3:30 p.m., Free

For the past 17 years, Halloween in Highlandtown has become synonymous with prancing around Patterson Park with glowing lights in tow. The annual Lantern Parade & Festival returns this Saturday with a Dia de los Muertos (think colorful sugar skulls and authentic mariachi music) theme and tons of family-friendly activities leading up to the annual procession after dark. Before the parade steps off, create your own hand-drum lantern, do some yoga, jump on a hayride, and indulge in bites and booze from local food trucks. After the grand finale, head over to the Creative Alliance to bust a move at the annual Glow Ball—the official adults-only after party featuring the sounds of Afro-Mexican jam band Las Cafeteras.

Oct. 29: Third Annual Halloween Cover Show at The Crown

The Crown, 1910 N. Charles St., 410-625-4848, 9 p.m., $3-5

<p "="">Though there are plenty of costume parties to choose from this weekend, The Crown is the move for music lovers. This Saturday night, the third annual Halloween Cover Show returns to the club’s Red Room with a slew of local bands performing their renditions of everything from ’60s chick rock to ‘80s new wave hits. Watch Wume pose as Joy Division, belt aloud to familiar Fleetwood Mac melodies, and pay homage to the late Ziggy Stardust with David Bowie covers by The Scroll Downers, all while sipping spooky cocktails and getting use out of your creative costume.

Oct. 29: Dundalk Family Fall Festival

Veterans Park, 44 Shipping Place, Dundalk, 410-282-0261, 10 a.m., Free

Before All Hallow’s Eve passes us by, squeeze in one last day of scarecrow making, face painting, and pumpkin picking at this family fête hosted by the Dundalk Renaissance Corporation. Take the little ones trick-or-treating around the merchants on Main Street, get creative with your costumes in the annual contest (there’s even a canine competition for the most festive furballs), and decorate the perfect pumpkin to set on your stoop for Halloween night.
