TEACH FOR AMERICA (TFA) BALTIMORE

Teach for America (TFA) Baltimore launched in 1992 with 68 new teachers, called corps members. Today, more than 1,400 corps members and alumni live in the region and are working to promote access and opportunities that will enable Baltimore’s students to thrive. The TFA Baltimore alumni network includes more than 500 teachers; 11 percent of the school district’s principals, leading many of the fastest- improving schools; 34 founders and leaders of nonprofits and entrepreneurial ventures; and alumni working in the public and private sectors impacting education, healthcare, and civic causes. Collectively, TFA Baltimore teachers and school leaders reach approximately 30,000 Baltimore City students annually.
