Content Writer

Baltimore magazine is the longest-standing city magazine in the country, evolving to become a multi-channel media powerhouse in the Baltimore region. We are seeking a part-time Content Writer who is responsible for a variety of writing assignments that will appear in Baltimore magazine, baltimoremagazine.com, and other custom publications that are served by our Creative Studio division.

Writing Responsibilities Include:

  • Advertorials
  • Branded content for the website (approximately 3 per month)
  • Business profiles in eight different advertising sections throughout the year
  • Editorial intros that appear in website newsfeeds
  • Monthly “Thought Leader of the Month”
  • Special section articles
  • Updating special section guides.
  • Small editorial assignments on an as needed basis

Skills & Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or a related field
  • 2+ years of journalism/content writing experience
  • Solid knowledge of AP Style
  • Highly organized and deadline oriented
  • Strong communication skills

This is a part-time, fully remote, contract position. Hours are approximately 40 per month, $600 billable at the end of each month. Candidate must agree to a minimum six-month contract which can either be extended or potentially evolve into additional hours per month.

We are seeking an Integrated Sales Consultant to join the advertising sales team. Responsibilities for this position include actively hunting for new business, consulting on all advertising opportunities, closing sales, and managing accounts on an ongoing basis.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Hunting through researching, networking, phone calls, email, and social media.
  • Understanding the marketing objectives of clients through a consultative sales approach.
  • Creating and presenting clients with customized integrated marketing plans.
  • Closing new business and exceeding monthly sales goals.
  • Managing relationships throughout the entire sales cycle, from initial contact through execution of client campaigns.
  • Professional account management to ensure client retention.
  • Staying on top of marketing/advertising trends.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Previous sales experience.

We are seeking a Digital Sales Specialist to join the advertising sales team. Responsibilities for this position include actively prospecting for new business, consulting on digital advertising opportunities, closing sales, and managing accounts on an ongoing basis.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Understanding the marketing objectives of clients through a consultative sales approach.

Important notes for applicants:

  • Until further notice, all internship programs are fully remote.
  • All internship applicants must be enrolled at a college or university and eligible for academic credit. Our internship programs are unpaid.
  • Please only apply for one program at a time. Make sure to specify which intern period(s) you are applying for (spring, summer, or fall) when sending your materials. Editorial internship applicants should also include a brief cover letter and at least two writing samples in addition to a resume.

Editorial-Digital Intern: Baltimore offers a robust internship program combining experience on both its print and digital platforms. Interns gain real-world experience working with the magazine’s editorial team on the production of our monthly print publication and the magazine’s daily website.

The internship is remote with some in-person meetings. All applicants must be enrolled at a college or university and be eligible for academic credit. This is an unpaid internship.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Research, fact-checking, writing event listings, administrative responsibilities, and working with editors on independent projects.
  • Pitching well-researched online-exclusive story ideas to the digital editor.
  • Reporting, writing, and posting 2-3 web stories per week.
  • Overseeing the upkeep of online and print directories. Fact-checking and updating archived content.

Social Media Marketing Intern: Baltimore magazine is looking for a creative social media marketing intern for the fall 2021 semester. Until further notice, the internship is remote. All applicants must be enrolled at a college or university and be eligible for academic credit. This is an unpaid internship.

The Social Media Intern will work alongside team members to do the following:

  • Help develop and execute daily social media strategy and campaigns.
  • Collaborate and abide by main calendar.
  • Content creation (marketing, editorial, and social).
  • Remain consistent and on-brand by writing in magazine’s voice.
  • Monitor and engage audience across all social channels.
  • Research and curate content and images for use on our social channels.
  • Monitor social analytics to identify trends and growth opportunities.
  • Conduct research and analysis of competitive or similar social channels/strategies.
  • Suggest new ways to attract prospective customers (promotions, contests, etc.).
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in all social platforms ensuring maximum effectiveness.
  • Live event coverage (when applicable).
  • Assist with other special projects, events, research, and administrative duties as needed.

Sales Intern: Baltimore magazine’s dynamic sales team is looking for a motivated intern to help make calls and generate leads for our sales team.  This intern will gain real-world experience identifying categories, researching companies and presenting recommendations to the VP of Sales.  Until further notice, the internship is remote. All applicants must be enrolled at a college or university and be eligible for academic credit. This is an unpaid internship.

Responsibilities Include:

  • The best candidate will be a hunter, able to research and generate sales leads
  • Participate in Sales meetings and assist the Sales department as necessary
  • Take on individual projects as necessary
