2026 Excellence in Nursing

On Thursday, May 7, Baltimore magazine was proud to celebrate 157 of the region’s top nurses spanning 37 specialties for their extraordinary contributions to healthcare. After receiving nominations from peers, supervisors, and patients, honorees were selected by a panel of highly experienced nurse advisors in collaboration with Baltimore magazine editors.

The winning nurses, along with nearly 500 of their peers, friends, and family enjoyed a 3-course dinner and a welcome from Renee Calabrese Uhlman of Marriott Owings Mills Metro Centre, Kimberly Schwenk MSN, RN,
NEA-BC, Vice President & Chief Nursing Officer, Medstar Franklin Square Medical
Center of MedStar Health and Sharon Smyth, DNP, RN, CENP, Vice President for Nursing & Patient Care Services & CNO of The Johns Hopkins Hospital.

An awards presentation followed, and each nurse was presented a custom plaque by Allogram to celebrate their accomplishment.
