Mount Vernon Place

The air was crisp as hundreds of bundled-up folks filled Mount Vernon Place for the annual Washington Monument lighting celebration put on by Mount Vernon Place Conservancy. Food trucks and various vendors lined the sides of the square and various performers entertained the crowd onstage. But all of it was only the lead-in to the evening’s capper—the fireworks display framing the monument as its holiday lights flicked on for the first night of the season.
