Jimena Portillo’s late father, a lawyer, had always dreamed of opening a taqueria in Mexico City. In 2011, Portillo realized that dream when she and her husband, Gelmin, opened Taco Love Grill. Known for offering authentic Mexican cuisine rooted in family recipes, Taco Love has grown from a small establishment to four locations: Taco Love White Marsh, Taco Love Federal Hill, Birria Love Parkville, and Tito’s Fried Chicken by Taco Love in Bowleys Quarters. Portillo explains they owe their success to delicious food and a strong commitment to the communities they serve. “At Taco Love, we don’t just serve tacos—we serve tradition,” she says. Whether you’re craving birria, tortas, or carne asada, a unique twist on a margarita, or a classic mezcal cocktail, the taqueria ensures that “Taco Tuesday” never lacks spice or sizzle. It’s no surprise the restaurant has earned multiple “Best Of” nods from Baltimore’s Reader’s Poll. Even as it grows, Taco Love remains committed to what makes it special: family recipes, authentic flavors, and a passion for bringing people together.
