For more than 25 years, Dr. Sonny Goel has been a leading figure in ophthalmology in the Greater Baltimore area. He has earned a reputation not only for his surgical skill in vision correction but also for his commitment to patient care, clarity, and embracing cutting-edge technology. His patients don’t just get a procedure: They get a partner in vision.
Dr. Goel was part of an accelerated six-year B.A./M.D. program, enabling him to fast-track his medical training. He earned his B.A. from Lehigh University and his M.D. from the Medical College of Pennsylvania.
After medical school, he completed a one-year internship in medicine at the Medical College of Pennsylvania Hospital. He then moved on to his ophthalmology residency at Greater Baltimore Medical Center in Baltimore.
Dr. Goel is a board-certified ophthalmologist whose areas of expertise include: Laser vision correction—LASIK, SMILE (a minimally invasive laser correction option) and PRK—cataract surgery, including laser assisted cataract, refractive lens exchange, and EVO ICL, an implantable lens procedure.
Dr. Goel has performed over 100,000 vision correction procedures since beginning laser surgery in 1997. He founded Goel Vision in 2019, with state-of-the-art facilities in Towson and Columbia. Both locations are certified as a ZEISS Center of Excellence for SMILE, the only provider in the Greater Baltimore area with that distinction.
The practice is recognized in leading professional societies, including the American Board of Ophthalmology, American Academy of Ophthalmology, Maryland Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons, International Society of Refractive Surgeons, and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons.
