Robert L. Ferguson Jr. is the chair and a founding principal at Ferguson, Schetelich & Ballew, P.A., which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. Ferguson heads both the firm’s insurance defense and construction law groups. He is a fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers, the recipient of the Maryland Bar Foundation’s Special Outstanding Achievement Award for Professional Legal Excellence and was honored by The Daily Record with its Leadership in the Law award.

Ferguson brings years of expertise to the practice of law. He began in the field in 1973 with a Baltimore firm where he became a named partner. After practicing with that firm for 23 years, he began Ferguson, Schetelich & Ballew in 1996. The firm is known for its commitment to excellence, both in representing its clients and serving the community. One of Ferguson’s most rewarding professional accomplishments was serving on the committee that lead to the creation of the Baltimore Coalition Against Substance Abuse and a drug treatment court in the District Court of Maryland for Baltimore City.

Ferguson is an active member of the Bar Association of Baltimore City, where he has held numerous leadership positions including past president. He has also been active in the Litigation Section of the Maryland State Bar Association and served as its chair. His extensive trial experience and professionalism have earned him respect and recognition from other lawyers in the community and accolades including a governor’s citation and recognition as a Super Lawyer since 2007.
