ZION PARRAN

ZION PARRANZion is a natural leader. She is currently the student government association (SGA) president at Hampden Elementary/Middle School, leading the SGA in their work to support the larger school community and advocate for her fellow middle-schoolers in decision-making with school administration. She consistently leads donation drives, organizing supplies for families at the Believe in Tomorrow House at Johns Hopkins and street survival kits for Healthcare for the Homeless. She uses her leadership positions to talk to younger students about the importance of supporting families in the community.

An exceptional academic student, Zion still manages to run a business with her brother called Kupcake Kidz, making and selling baked goods at local farmers’ markets in the Baltimore area. She helps run the business’ social media page and creates its advertising. Described as energetic and a role model, Zion is an advocate for herself and other young students.

““[Zion] motivates the students around her and younger students to do their best because she leads by example.” —DeVera Miller-Maxwell, nominator
