Creative Alliance’s 2024 Marquee Ball: Illusion!
April 27, 2024
8 p.m.–12 a.m.
The Creative Alliance at the Patterson

To truly understand the mission of the Creative Alliance—encouraging artistic expression and uniting the community through the arts—you have to experience its annual Marquee Ball. This year, some 650 folks packed the Highlandtown venue in creative costumes that fit the theme of illusion and magic. Guests enjoyed drinks, eats, and bidding on works displayed on the building’s walls. They could also take in magical performances both onstage in the Marquee Lounge and on the floor in the main party room.

Some attended a VIP dinner earlier, where they were entertained with magic shows and a live auction hosted by “The Invisible Man.” Capping off the evening was a dance party paying homage to the building’s past life as a movie palace. The annual extravaganza acts as a fundraiser for the org’s free youth education and many community arts programs.

With magic and illusion the theme for the evening, Amy Raehse pulled off her own magic trick in honor of the Marquee Ball—creating a gown for herself out of real playing cards. And the Goya Contemporary Gallery partner did it all in one day, along with also making the matching hat for hubby, David Tomasko, Guerilla Realty associate broker.
