Heart of the Schools

What happens when you treat principals like rock stars, honor them, and recognize their great work? You start hearing just how much extraordinary work is going on in our city. In its sixth year, The Heart of the Schools is harnessing the 200,000-plus readership of America’s oldest city magazine—Baltimore—to share the inspiring work of the 2020 award winners and honorees.

“We want everyone to feel what we felt when selecting these remarkable individuals from more than 500 nominations received from every corner of the city.” said Roger Schulman, president and CEO of the Fund. “We are not surprised, but we are in awe of the ingenuity, resourcefulness, and leadership they display—even in this most challenging of times.” These leaders relentlessly strive to provide the best possible future for their students—and our city.
